The WHO Disease Outbreak News Annual Compendium 2022 highlights selected acute public health events described in disease outbreak news (DON) reports published in 2022.
DON reports are a key mechanism through which WHO communicates on acute public health events to the public. They are a source of authoritative, verified, and timely information and fulfil a critical role in information dissemination. Authoritative, verified and timely information allows the public and, particularly, public health actors to make informed decisions for acute public health events.
The WHO Disease Outbreak News Annual Compendium 2022 provides insights into selected acute public health events to provide further information to the public, guide prevention activities and facilitate future response action. It highlights the implemented response activities, the WHO risk assessment and advice and provides an update on the epidemiological situation where available.
