Fantastic. Enjoyed every moment of it. The world that is built in this book is incredibly interesting that despite it being the first (and thus a lot of things need to be explained), there is not a single line that was monotonous or where I felt it was getting boring. The scenery and description wasn't overly done, and there weren't too many moments where things happened that I was prepared for (for example, I expected Tris to transfer, but everything else after that came as a surprise). I loved the heroine. She is so brave and logical -- I think its her logical side that I liked and identified with the most. For every action she took, she justified it and in some sense one might think that's arrogant (believing one is always right) but its the manner in which she thinks and its portrayal as a reaction to events makes such a trait not possible for Tris. Loved the ending, it wasn't as much as a bang but rather a huge crash that seemed to last ages as it plateued to an ending (never dipping). Can't wait for the second book =D Wasn't too long. I love reading slowly and savouring the parts where a huge moment arrives and the next decision in the plot will change everything -- and there are a lot of them in this book (felt like about 4) so between that and life, it took 2.5 days to finish this book. Averages out to about 5 hours by my estimate.

Very good book... Thought me to trust in my guts or instincts..And to listen to my inner self accurately...And not to be afraid to disappoint others for my own happiness

Reads like a piece of middle class English Literature classwork. No sex. No swearing. No real violence. This is some middle class kid who has not lived do can't write. It's written for kids I'd say. Everyone so nice, even the villains, shaking hands, etc. Come on its a post apocalyptic world. Very very poor. Buy it to see how bad writing can be, if you must. That's all I can think it's good for.... I know nothing about the author. I could be miles off but I'd like to add they must be a religious not job.
