It's been a long time since I've read a new Redwall book. After finishing this one, I regret that I didn't read it sooner. What I particularly enjoyed about Doomwyte was the rather unusual, but not unwelcome, sense of the supernatural and mystery. It gave me a sense of excitement that I do not normally feel. I am struck by how well Brian Jacques creates a world so striking and so full of life that even now, as a student in college, I still want to go to Redwall and laugh and live with all of its inhabitants. Jacques, thank you for creating such a beautiful world that reminds me of life as it ought to be, that we should work at being happy with how we live. Thank you, Jacques, for yet another great book in your impressive collection.

I am a big Redwall fan. I have read all the books & this is my least favorite. So many characters, that it was hard to keep track of who's who. Also the story slowed a little in the middle. However, I do like that he put a new twist on the villains with the Doomwytes. Jaques gets an extra star for mixing it up a bit.

I was oblivious to the fact he had written after High Rhulain, so this was an enjoyment to find. Gotta love it!
