About the author

Douglas Palmer is a freelance science writer who has written 10 books on prehistory and has been a major contributor to another 6. He teaches for Robinson College of Cambridge University on the Natural Science Tripos and is a lecturer for the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education. He spent two years as an exhibition co-ordinator at the National Museum of Wales and presently lives with his wife in Cambridge.
