About this ebook

Human resources management should be considered as a part of business strategy. HR should aid the operation and line managers for better utilization of people, processes, and systems.

The world of work is changing at breakneck speed, and this book is your roadmap to navigating the new terrain. The author delves into the rise of artificial intelligence, the importance of organizational agility, and the need for a workforce fueled by resilience, sustainability, and inclusivity.

Employers believe HR to be like "achar," (pickle) preserved but not exactly thriving. They don’t understand that there is something beyond administrative work in management. They don’t believe in strategic planning either; While many HR managers struggle to gain the credibility needed to establish strategic roles within their companies, the author has successfully implemented strategic HR initiatives across diverse commercial enterprises through his travels. It was mainly because of his networking, honesty, and forthrightness.

The cases exemplify the importance of strategic workforce planning, HR foresight, and collaboration with line managers. By leveraging HR expertise and acting proactively, we can address future challenges effectively, minimize risks, and ultimately contribute to the organization's success.

"Seen & Unseen: Untold Stories" by Dr. Pon Mohaideen Pitchai took me behind the scenes of corporate life. Forget the polished image often portrayed in textbooks and seminars; this book offers a raw and unfiltered look at the everyday challenges faced in the business world. Each chapter is filled with wisdom. The author uses humor and practical advice to convey his points. He compares employees to "curry leaves"—useful but often discarded—and warns against the dangers of becoming too attached to your employer. These analogies are not only amusing but also deeply insightful, making the lessons easy to remember and apply. For me this book is a manifesto for change. The author challenges the traditional ways of thinking about HR and management. He exposes the pitfalls of what he calls "lip service" HR, where policies are all talk and no action. He also criticizes the lack of commercial acumen among managers and the stifling effect of the "dear culture" on creativity.
