Echocardiography can be used in the diagnostics of coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathies and myocarditides. In association with an acute coronary syndrome, echocardiography renders information on cardiac wall motion abnormalities, cardiac failure or mitral valve dysfunction caused by infarction.
