Severely weakened from his ordeals, Elminster elicits the unlikely help of Amarune Whitewave, a rogue sometimes known as the Secret Shadow. Joined by other adventurers along the way, the two embark on a quest to defeat Manshoon and save the Forgotten Realms.

A little better than the preceding story, but it's still not quite the stuff of the original Elminster tales. Still, definitely a good read; looking forward to the next book in the series--hoping to see the old El revived.

Ed Greenwood is the creator of the Forgotten Realms fantasy setting, an award-winning game designer, and a best-selling author whose fantasy novels have sold millions of copies worldwide in more than thirty languages.
