REUBEN ARCHER TORREY was an American evangelist, pastor, educator, and writer. Torrey studied at Yale University, Yale Divinity School, Leipzig University, Erlangen University and received a doctorate from Wheaton College. Soon after becoming a congregational minister, Torrey joined Dwight L. Moody in his evangelistic work in Chicago. Torrey authored over 40 books in his lifetime.
Z. T. SWEENEY was a well-respected preacher and scholar. He had his longest period of pastoral service at his congregation in Columbus, Indiana. Sweeney's mind was rhetorical rather than logical; and his addresses were suited, and intended, to persuade rather than to convince, to attract rather than to compel to the admission of the truth. He equipped himself well with the logic of facts, and always used it effectively.
