This non-stop, fast-paced romantic suspense thriller had me on the edge of my seat and advising the characters about what they needed to do next to stay safe. Beginning with an attempted assassination with a boat and moving to gunshot wounds and exploding dams, the action in the book never let up. There are twists galore that kept me reading and guessing until the very satisfying conclusion. The characters of Nathan and Erin were so human, with flaws and doubts just like all of us have. I really enjoyed the heroics of Nathan and the determination of Erin. The character that surprised me was Erin’s mom Celia, a lady with a strong will and a lot of secrets from the past. I enjoyed reading about characters from the first book in the series, but this one can definitely be read as a standalone without creating any confusion at all. With spot on tension and intense drama, the book called to the mystery lover in me and touched all of the right buttons to enthrall me. I highly recommend the book to anyone who enjoys a fast pace and a heart-thumping adventure. SUSPENSE, INTRIGUE & MURDER! “How much more will we have to go through before this is over?” And if there was a next time, would they both survive? Deadly Target (Rocky Mountain Courage Book #2) is full of suspense, intrigue and murder! Author Elizabeth Goddard is one of the top Christian Romantic Suspense writers as is proven by many Awards she has won. It will only take reading one of her works to convince you to immediately want to read MORE! Deadly Target may be read as a stand alone but should be read in sequential order for the reader to really be able to piece in the background of the story. This is another thrilling addition that I enjoyed from start to finish! Goddard has once again provided readers with a beautiful word picture using the opening setting of a lovely boating outing on the Puget Sound. Criminal psychologist Erin Larson’s successful career almost comes to an end when she is involved in a serious boating accident and almost simultaneously learns that her mother tried to commit suicide. She returns to Montana to take care of her Mom as she recovers and because she does not buy the suicide attempt story. Also, at least Erin can continue her podcasts focusing on missing person cold cases. Nathan Campbell’s father was investigating one such case when he was shot and now he needs Erin’s help to solve the case. She is really good at what she does. There is just one problem. And it is a major problem . . . because Erin is Nathan’s ex! They decide to put their pasts aside to work together in an attempt to solve the case but realize all to soo,n that they are targets as well! As much as Erin would like to ignore the possibility, the reality is the key to solving this mystery seems to be in a buried deep in a memory that Erin longs to forget. They must fight for the truth to win out and to face what they still may feel for each other. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell & NetGalley. Deadly Target Rocky Mountain Courage #2 By Elizabeth Goddard Erin Larson has been running from her past and from her future. She's carried a secret for most of her life a secret that has controlled everything. In her spare time she revisits cold case through a podcast - hoping to bring justice to those who have received none and to bring answers and closure to their family and friends. When Erin receives word that her mother tried to end her own life she wonders how she, a criminal psychologist, could have missed the warning signs. Leaving her life in Washington state behind for the foreseeable future she returns home to Montana to care for her mother. But returning home means she'll have to face Nathan Campbell at some point. Nathan always thought Erin was the one for him, until she broke his heart and fled to the Pacific Northwest. Spending time with her is the last thing he wants to do, but he needs her help. Someone tried to kill his father and Nathan needs her expertise to get answers to questions. But soon Erin and Nathan's search for answers puts them directly in the line of fire. The only question is why? Is it something from the past? Their current investigation? Or Erin's search into the past? With few clues to go on they'll need to move quickly if they hope to stay ahead of the danger and get the answers they seek. Deadly Target is the second book in Elizabeth Goddard's Rocky Mountain Courage series. If you haven't read book one you really should just to get some background info on some of the other characters, but you can easily read this book without that previous knowledge. Looking for fast-paced heart-pounding excitement but without the graphic violence or over-the-top-language? Like a touch of romance in your suspense? Second-chances? Well this book has all that and more to keep your attention glued to the pages from beginning to end. Those familiar with Elizabeth Goddard's work will have no disappointments with this newest book. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion - all thoughts expressed are my own.
