Cape Cod SEAL Rescue

This is a short, fast paced love story of two people overcoming tragic pasts to find love. John Decker wishes he had died two years ago in a crash that killed his wife. As a retired Navy Seal, he's had offers to join The Brotherhood Protection. Not ready to commit to a job or anything, he relocates to Wellfleet on Cape Cod where he spends much of his days on his porch staring out at the ocean. Roxi Lanier has spent her life, since age 13, not truly living. As the owner of a bar on Wellfleet, she often sees Decker having a drink or eating. After diving into the ocean to "rescue" what she thinks is a despondent Decker, she decides to start living her life. Although I enjoyed this novella, I was expecting a little more suspense, drama. It was easily relatable and dealt with heavy topics. I did expect Roxi to be a little more nervous, scared when it came to intimacy, but loved her take charge attitude. This is a love story of two damaged souls learning to live life fully and love again. This novella also opened up the possibility of the Brotherhood Protection expanding to the East coast with Decker heading up an office there. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

We find out a lot about him; 1)he is a sexy ex-Navy Seal and it does not matter that he is 47 YO. 2)Chuck’s past is told and we discover why he will never get married and have children again! 3)he does not believe in love at first site! Or will he change his mind? Kate Phillip’s twin sister, Rachael, left her daughter, Lyla, on Kate’s door steps in Los Angeles and Rachael told her two things; 1) Contact Hank at Brotherhood Protector’s in Montana, 2) Lyla needed to be protected at all costs. Kate didn’t know who was after Rachael and her husband Myles requiring Lyla to be at risk too. Kate,35, didn’t believe that it could be “that bad” and stayed in Los Angeles until a black masked man broke into her home to kidnap Lyla. Kate immediately went to Montana, found Hank Patterson and told him her story. Chuck’s first assignment with the Brotherhood is to protect Kate Phillips and her three (3) year old niece, Lyla. Everyone agreed that Kate and Chuck’s undercover story is they are married with a 3-year-old and will be moving to Montana. From the first day, their attraction to each other was off the chart. As they both gave each other ‘wide berth’ until they couldn’t stay away from each other. You owe it to yourself to grab this book, and even though this can be read as a stand-alone, you will get more background, ‘and’ more romance in each book. This installment has all the ingredients for a delightful book: mystery, non-stop heart stopping action, steaming sweet passion. Well Done Ms Elle! Short Novellas sometimes have no substance or feel to rushed. No complaints here. This is a well done short story with the crime having been committed off camera so to speak. Hank makes a short appearance, and other than that its all about Roxie and Dexter, oh and Otis, lets not forget Otis. Made me smile and made my day.
