Good Series and Intro to Author It's funny, but I am not typically drawn toward military, rockstar, or billionaire romance, which are certainly popular tropes in the contemporary romance genre. So why did I choose this book at my favorite book review site when each of the stories is about these tropes? I was suckered in by the idea of summertime beach reads, as I do light and frothy summer romances as the weather warms. So I thought I would give this book a shot. I hadn't read this author before, so that was out of my comfort zone as well. But I am glad that I chose to read this set of books. While there were some flaws, I did find they had generally well-done characters whom I could relate to and wanted to root for. As is far too common in novellas, I felt there was a bit of an information dump to set up the characters, which I always dislike. Authors should show, not tell, and this can be pulled off even in novellas. But once I got past the info dump sections, I found the descriptions and characterization to be well done and allowed the story to keep moving, unlike those dreaded information dumps. I liked the characters and understood what held them back as well as their motivations; I didn’t find them to be the stereotypical military, rockstar, or billionaire romances, either, much to my delight. As an additional fun thing, the author has given us three recipes (for pie, a smoothie, and bread) after each story. These are, indeed, good beach reads whether you go to the beach or enjoy within the comfort of your own home. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This book is a great boxset. Each of the books is better than the last. The characters are well developed and engaging and with smooth flowing storylines. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
