Post Magic: Volume 1

Five stars for this inventive off-world crime fantasy! This story has a lot of depth to it with amazing world-building, lots of great plot twists, well-developed characters and story arcs. I can't wait to read book two! Whether you like sci-fi, fantasy or simple detective thrillers, I think you'll like this book which somehow manages to wrap all three genres together into a flawless finish. Very fun, tons of action and magic. There's even a little romance, as much as main character tries to avoid entanglements ;)

The synopsis for this story said it was a mix of genre and it was not wrong. I thought it took the fun elements of steam punk, changeling characteristics, mystery, magic and police stories and mixed in a strong streak of a space opera scifi story based on a planet to get this story. It was a blast to read and spot them all as they just made a fun book. I loved Nikta as she goes about her business and ends up in the middle of a wild and scary adventure. I loved the writing as it made me feel like I was right there. I loved the feel of family and how all the characters Nikta meets grow as the book progresses. The flow of the story was addicting and kept me reading to the end to find out who the bad guys were and how Nikta ends up working undercover for everyone is hilarious. Just a lot of fun. I really liked it and could not wait to read book 2.

Amazing read, a stellar crime thriller with action and magic. Great world building, interesting characters. Looking forward to more in this series.
