About this ebook

“The Silver Brumby took me cantering into the world’s wilder places.” – Geraldine McCaughrean

A silver brumby is a rare and special creature, prized both by other horses and by men...

A silver brumby is special, but he will be hunted by man and horse alike, and must be stronger than both.

Thowra, the magnificent silver stallion, becomes king of the brumbies. But he must defend his herd from the mighty horse, The Brolga, in the most savage of struggles.

That is not the only danger. Thowra needs all his speed and cunning to save his herd from capture by man. In a desperate chase through the mountains, it seems there is no longer anywhere for him to run to...

I got this book when I was a little girl and I was absolutely captured by it and the tv series. So much so that the book is now in tatters, I am glad that I am able to have this digital copy to share with my little brother and future generations. = D

Excellent book. Makes me aware of nature and increases my love for horses. I however wish that the rest of the series was on Google play as well

I've got this and read the follow on books 'Silver Brumbies Daughter', 'Silver Brumbies of the South' and 'Silver Brumby Kingdom'. I wish they would put this on here or on Kindle. These books are good.

About the author

Elyne Mitchell (1913–2002) began writing for her children. Although the Silver Brumby books are her most famous, she wrote several others, mainly about horses. Passionate about the dramatic landscapes of the Australian Alps, her books convey the beauty and savagery of that area with a remarkable lyricism.
