Elizabeth initially doesn't want to go to school so she's "the Naughtiest girl in the school" - she won't go to bed at the right time, she puts twelve things on her chest of drawers instead of six and she goes to the village alone. However, she soon reforms, largely thanks to Joan, the timid mouse of the school. In the "Naughtiest girl again' she's not naughty anymore but someone is trying to spoil everything for her. In the "Naughtiest girl is a monitor" she's thrilled to be a monitor but her impulsive nature soon lands her in a lot of trouble

An old time favorite. I still love reading the naughtiest girl series even in my age of 40s.
