Una liebre y una tortuga se retan a una carrera para ver quién de las dos es más rápida. Evidentemente la liebre parte en cabeza y en poco tiempo coge una gran ventaja sobre su lenta perseguidora. Al verse con la victoria en el bolsillo el lepórido se permite sentarse a descansar a la sombra de un árbol y cae dormido. Cuando despierta y cruza la meta no hay nadie para recibirla, la tortuga ya había llegado y ganado la carrera.
