For me, this book got off to a slow start, but once it got going, I could hardly put it down. The story began to come alive for me when Jaden found himself in a confounding new reality and had to make sense of it. I imagined someone from the dark ages suddenly being dropped into the 21st century (&beyond), experiencing the technology, and trying to use their severely limiting experiences to comprehend what they are seeing. Jaden was surprisingly adept at adapting. I found the concept of the story to be original and as believable as any supernatural story can be. The writing was clear, action-packed, and emotional. The perceived prosecutors are actually protectors. Love is timeless. Humanity is not beyond hope. It was surprisingly uplifting.
