My first book was a sampling of the various kinds of pin-ups I have enjoyed over the years. This book is focused on Noir, though not all the images are retro. Noir isn't confined to the past. It seethes in the shadows of our lives, undulating seductively like the Noir girls, femme fatales, black widows, hardboiled working girls, and perhaps the sexiest of all— the good girls gone bad.
Once again, enjoy these images. It's been hard but fulfilling work, finding the inspiration for these images in latent space, the mysterious dimension from which AI condenses form out of chaos, and then using every trick in the book, reworking, compositing, repainting, correcting the images to infuse them with humanity—
—Now there's a knock at the door. You open it to find an outrageously built woman dressed in black, tears in her eyes.
She touches your arm. Her face tilts up, her gaze locked to yours. Somewhere in the distance a siren wails. She smells of cigarettes and expensive perfume. The tears are fake. You can tell.
Against your better judgement, you usher her into your office and close the door behind her.
Eva Quim writes and makes things in her underground lair somewhere on the Eastern Seaboard.
She’s delighted when people love her books, like, super, super happy about it, so why not leave her a review? Maybe Amazon, Good Reads, your mom's refrigerator…
OK, skip that last one. But the others would be really appreciated. It's the kind of thing that keeps creators like Eva going.
