Despite the current rise in evangelicals focusing on justice work as an element of their faith, evangelical theologians have not adequately developed a theological foundation for this kind of activism.Evangelical Theologies of Liberation and Justice fills this gap by bringing together the voices of academics, activists, and pastors to articulate evangelical liberation theologies from diverse perspectives. Mae Elise Cannon is the author of the award-winning Social Justice Handbook and Just Spirituality, and coauthor of Forgive Us. She has served as the senior director of advocacy and outreach for World Vision-US, the executive pastor of Hillside Covenant Church (Walnut Creek, California), and a consultant for Compassion International.
Andrea Smith is a cofounder of Evangelicals 4 Justice and a board member of the North American Institute for Indigenous Theological Studies. She is currently chair of the Ethnic Studies Department at UC Riverside. Her books include Conquest, Native Americans and the Christian Right, and Unreconciled (forthcoming).
