About this eBook

Fans of Laura Griffin and Allison Brennan will devour this vivid and thrilling story of a young woman who must uncover the truths of the past in order to secure her own future …

BE CAREFUL
A masked robber, a gunshot, an endless nightmare left in its wake. Wynter Moore was just four years old when she witnessed the murder of her mother. For twenty-five years she’s tried to blunt the trauma with ambition. Yet each year, she shuts down her popular Iowa restaurant to return to her small hometown of Pike, Wisconsin, to grieve. Only this time, her visit will be marked by new danger and shocking discoveries about the past—and about her mother.

WHAT YOU DIG FOR
Why kill her? That’s what’s scrawled on the picture Pike’s recently deceased sheriff left behind for Wynter. Pulled from surveillance tape, it shows the fatal hold-up—and raises unnerving questions. Soon, Wynter is opening a Pandora’s box of dark revelations and suspects. When frightening incidents and threats start coming, it’s clear that Wynter is a target herself. Enemies seem to abound—except for one man . . .

YOU JUST MIGHT GET KILLED
Game warden Noah Heller has tried to convince himself that Wynter is just a friend ever since they met in grief counseling as teenagers. But now that she’s in danger, that denial is over. Traveling to her side, he helps Wynter retrace the treacherous steps of her complex mother’s life—before she loses her own. Because someone wants—needs—Wynter gone, forever.

“A satisfying mystery . . . Ivy's clever foreshadowing keeps the tension high throughout this fast-moving tale, and the romance sizzles.”

Alexandra Ivy is one of my go to authors. She always provides me with a 4 or 5 star read and this one is no exception. Suspense, psychological thriller with friends to lovers back drop. I know some people say they saw this coming. I kept waffling on the killer, and was totally wrong. That is always a win for me. The friendship between Wynter and Noah was forged in despair and their honesty with each other is stunningly beautiful. I will say this one piled up a lot of bodies, The family dynamics, or lack there of was heart wrenching and still this book brought the HEA, tattered, but strong. Thank you for the arc! I freely share my thoughts and opinions.

A 25 year old murder, secrets, lies and a crazy killer come to light in the mystery suspense. “Secrets never stay buried,” Noah sharply interrupted, his tone equally fierce. “Eventually Pandora’s box would have been opened.” Wynter was four years old when her mother was murdered. 25 years later she finds out her mother wasn’t the person she thought. Noah is helping her look into what really happened. What a shocker. “A man needs a soft place to land at the end of a day,” his dad had said. “Find that soft place. . . .” The romance was more a after thought but still a good story.

I'm so enjoying this series of murder-mystery/romantic suspense books set in the very small but very deadly town of Pike, WI. With main characters who are not part of your usual law enforcement agencies, there are real fish out of water moments and they do land themselves in a pickle every so often! Wynter lost her mother when she was 4. She was in the car when her mother was killed and she returns to her gravesite every year. But this year things are about to get dangerous. Wynter received new evidence about her mother's murder and she unleashes a whole passel of worms when she doesn't just kick the can but upends it! Noah and Wynter have been circling each other for years, neither really facing up to the attraction between them but Noah is not about to let Wynter face this investigation on her own. Especially not when people they speak to mysteriously die afterwards! He's used to not being everyone's favourite person, he is a Game Warden after all, but he's never been actively hunted either. Lovely slow burn romance, friends to lovers, with a heaping of suspense. I was kept guessing as to who the murderer was, there were more than one or two red herrings on that front. Hoping that there are more in this series to come. I received an early copy from the publisher via Netgalley and this review is completely voluntary
