When the going gets tough, as they say, the tough get going, and I've never seen anyone as tough as the poor laborers in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands. Famara, the daughter of an unemployed day laborer, dreams of a beautiful life. What she gets is dust, hunger, and the the sorrow of being the less favored sister. The day she finds an abandoned newspaper and begs a stranger to help her learn to read it changes her life. Though suffering, hard work, and disappointment, Famara emerges triumphant,
