There is so much going on in this book with references from throughout the series. Luckily, the author does a good job of reminding readers of who various characters were or what had happened. Jane and Beast are shifting forms unexpectedly, especially while asleep. They keep shifting to a half-form (fighting form), which is different every time. Jane has to head back to New Orleans to demonstrate her control as Dark Queen, despite her shifting difficulties, and take Leo's place as MOC. There's also a wedding to attend! However, trouble ensues. Meanwhile, Jane (and Beast) have trouble adjusting to the idea that her death would endanger all of her friends and family, as well as the humans and vampires in the U.S. As you can imagine, it's very difficult to adjust to letting others fight without her. This is an action packed thrill ride. There are also some tragic losses. And the book doesn't end on a cliffhanger, per se, but it does leave the reader wanting answers...right now! 😉

Nostalgic, and still refreshing, gripping. More blood, beheading, magic, and death. Thought this would be the final episode... It ain't over till it's over...
