About this eBook

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall

*This is not your typical romance and that is what makes this book so good. That and the wonderful characters that you can’t help but love! While this book has a ton of humor, Fall (VIP bk 3) touches upon some serious subject matter and the Author’s Note at the beginning of the book is perfect. Jax is the lead singer of Kill John. He suffers from depression and anxiety and has a history of a suicide attempt from years prior. The author does a great job touching upon mental health and I found her portrayal of mental illness to be spot on. As the author states it isn’t “all gloom and doom. They are often extremely intelligent, talented, funny, and charismatic people”. This book has humor, romance, and serious emotions all wrapped into one entertaining read. How can one be surrounded by people and still be lonely? Jax’s character demonstrates that the depression and anxiety are real and affect daily life. It has shaped how he approaches things and his relationship with Stella. The author also shows how he is sometimes treated with kid gloves by his bandmates and manager. He is a strong character and perhaps one of my favorite rockstar heroes (and I have read a lot of rockstar romances). Stella is fun, quirky character. Stella is very kind and caring (and is almost too perfect to me - I would have liked to have seen a few more flaws), but is lonely without any real friends and very vulnerable when it comes to any type of relationship based off her past . She is as Jax describes “the girl next door meets Wednesday Adams”. She is the type of heroine that I would love to be friends with. The chemistry between Jax/John and Stella as well as their love for each other is palpable and I loved how there was a lot of romance/wooing. The first chapter was quite humorous and sucked me right in. Fall moves at a good pace with no parts that lag. The characters are charismatic, strong and well developed. I enjoyed getting to read more about Rye, Whip, and Brenna as well more of Scottie and Sophie (from Managed). Killian and Libby are only mentioned a few times in this book and I would have liked to have seen them more. Fall is book 3 in the VIP series. I have read both Idol and Managed and while there is some character overlap, Fall can be read as a standalone.

This is book #3, in the VIP series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to fully understand the series, I recommend reading this series in order. Jax is stunned from the moment he meets Stella. He does not know why he is so attracted, but he thinks about her all the time. Can he be what she needs to make a future? Stella is surprised to meet Jax. The attraction is mutual. She becomes his neighbor. They meet up constantly and accidentally and the heat is sparking all over. This story was more involved and a little dark. I like how realistic it was about addiciton and depression. These are hard subjects to tackle and I felt it was done well. I liked reading about the characters falling. It felt organic, real, and like I was in the room. I enjoyed this read.
