About this eBook

'The greatest story of our age ... Be very afraid' John Arlidge, Sunday Times

Michael Lewis's epic bestseller tells the outrageous story of the multi-millionaires and whizz kids who scammed the banking system in the blink of an eye - and the whistleblowers who tried to stop them. It's hilarious, terrifying and it's all true.

'Thrilling, a masterclass' Robert McCrum, Observer, Books of the Year

'Jaw-dropping, astonishing ... Lewis has lit the touch paper' Liam Halligan, Spectator

'The kind of writer who creates his own weather system' John Lanchester, London Review of Books

'I read Michael Lewis for the same reasons I watch Tiger Woods. I'll never play like that. But it's good to be reminded every now and again what genius looks like' Malcolm Gladwell

Lewis writes so lucidly about the highly complex frequent trading market, that even I could understand it - all, albeit an ex-markets professional. I left the morally bankrupt City in 201, after 20 years. It's great to hear that the hero of this book: Brad Katsuyama is trying to straighten out that tarnished reputation of the financial markets and the casino banks.

This book is in the same style as the Big Short, only difference is that in this case there's no crime being committed. Characters seem to be very similar to the ones in the Big Short. Full of platitudes and harkened stereotypes.

The author made an interesting choice of characters for narrating his views on HFT. Non finance guys would learn a lot on how stock markets function in modern era.
