I found this book rather insightful. History classes have always told us the stories of the men involved in the wars, but never really taught us about the women who aided behind the scenes. Florence Nightingale was from a higher society family, who didn't need to help at all, yet she committed herself to the cause and gave birth to the nursing career, and so many have followed her lead. The book was well written and explained her life in detail, showing her dedication and tenacity.

This book is a wonderful tribute to a pioneer and military hero. My last assignment in the army was with a medical supply unit so I have an appreciation for the medical corps. To learn more of one of the pioneers in this area was enjoyable. An interesting and informative book which I would highly recommend. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
