About this eBook

Celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the enduring gothic masterpiece Flowers in the Attic—the unforgettable forbidden love story that earned V.C. Andrews a fiercely devoted fan base and became an international cult classic.

At the top of the stairs there are four secrets hidden—blond, innocent, and fighting for their lives…

They were a perfect and beautiful family—until a heartbreaking tragedy shattered their happiness. Now, for the sake of an inheritance that will ensure their future, the children must be hidden away out of sight, as if they never existed. They are kept in the attic of their grandmother’s labyrinthine mansion, isolated and alone. As the visits from their seemingly unconcerned mother slowly dwindle, the four children grow ever closer and depend upon one another to survive both this cramped world and their cruel grandmother. A suspenseful and thrilling tale of family, greed, murder, and forbidden love, Flowers in the Attic is the unputdownable first novel of the epic Dollanganger family saga.

The Dollanganger series includes: Flowers in the Attic, Petals in the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, Garden of Shadows, Beneath the Attic, and Out of the Attic.

I was in the hospital and my best friend brought me this book. It was one of the best presents I have ever received. I loved all of her (book) collections. If you do not have a idea for a gift : Try V.C. ANDREWS.

I read this series as a teen, decades ago. Very readable and memorable. After I married I recommended the series to my hubby and he devoured the series as well. Lifetime has done an excellent job translating the books to the screen. No matter how many times I've seen it, whenever it comes on Lifetime - I just have to watch it again. All of VC Andrew's books are really memorable, and you wind up loving and rooting for the characters she brings to life. Petals On The Wind has a really shocking situation in the end... I always wished there had been happy endings for the characters after all the misery and heartache that they all endured.

I first read this series about 37 years ago, give or take. I was in middle school, 12ish years old and this book was THE BOOK that EVERYONE was reading. I was too young that first read, to really understand the story, the evil, the taboo, and I recall actually thinking the attic - with the antiques and flower garlands - would be a magical place to live. Silly girl! Some books are good while you're reading them and yet are completely forgotten once the last chapter is finished. "Flowers in the Attic" is NOT one of those books. It gets under your skin; I still find myself recalling different events from the book, just out of the blue, all these years later. I have reread this book as well as the rest of the series, multiple times. I even saw at least one screen adaptation, but it was a pale, thin, watery telling - they could only scratch the surface and couldn't evoke anything close to the emotional response that the book pulled out of me. I definitely recommend this book with the asterisk* be prepared to read the entire series. It's a compulsion you can't resist... You'll NEED to know what happens next to these characters and will probably think of little else until the back cover of the final novel is closed.
