Jim Nash and his partner, Maddie Spence, are called on to help an old friend locate his missing daughter. But is she really missing? Jim thinks she’s gone on a romantic getaway for a long weekend and an opportunity to study for her final exams soon to be coming up. Maddie isn’t so certain.

An old nemesis is out of prison and looking for trouble. When she crosses the path of someone who looks familiar, it doesn’t take her long to put two and two together. How could she not? The woman was the one who drove a giant snow clearing machine into the back of her car in god-forsaken Escape, scattering money, dreams, and hope for a new life in the bright lights and big city.

Jim and Maddie agree to help locate the missing woman. They make for the Florida panhandle, determined to track down the woman with the help of faithful dog and companion, Friday, along for the ride.
