About this ebook

What Is Brain Implant

Brain implants are technical devices that link directly to the brain of a biological subject. These devices are often put on the surface of the brain or affixed to the cortex of the brain. Brain implants are also sometimes referred to as neural implants. Establishing a biomedical prosthesis that can bypass regions of the brain that have become dysfunctional as a result of a stroke or other head traumas is one of the primary goals of contemporary brain implants, which is also the primary focus of most of the research being done today. This involves the replacement of a sense, such as in the case of vision. In animal research, other types of brain implants are sometimes employed for the sole purpose of recording brain activity for scientific purposes. The creation of interfaces between neural systems and computer chips is required for some types of brain implants. This study is being done in the context of a larger research topic known as brain?computer interfaces.
