Mary Shelley è nata a Londra nel 1797, figlia di un filosofo e scrittore, e di una delle madri del movimento femminista inglese. L’amore per le scienze e l’incoraggiamento del padre la portarono a diventare una delle più famose dame dell’horror, se non la regina assoluta delle atmosfere cupe in letteratura.
