About the author

Frederic P. Hartwell is a working electrician, president of Hartwell Electrical Services, Inc., and has been certified by the International Association of Electrical Inspectors as a Certified Master Electrical Inspector. Mr. Hartwell is coauthor of McGraw-Hill’s American Electricians’ Handbook, 15th Edition. He is the senior member of NEC CMP 9. He has over 35 years of experience as the Secretary of the Massachusetts Code Committee. Mr. Hartwell has worked at all levels of the NEC development process, creating or revising entire articles. As such, he has a unique perspective and understanding of the NEC development process and has an unvarnished perspective.
