關於本電子書

'Gondan' is Shantabai's third poetry collection. The tendency to imitate the elders, symbolism in style, and the use of words expressed in the earlier poems are rarely found in the poems of 'Gondan'. Here it seems that the poetess is exploring her world of experiences more deeply and instead of merely describing those experiences, she is trying to convey them to the readers. Along with this, the use of free verse or free structure is seen here for the first time from many poems in addition to rhymed and narrative poems. Instead of similes, the images are deliberately planned. Yet Shantabai still maintains her connection with the old poetry. 'Gondan' contains many Sunitas written in Shardulvikreedita, but showing innovation in content. This is a remarkable feature of Sunite 'Gondan'

‘गोंदण’ हा शांताबाईंचा तिसरा कवितासंग्रह. आधीच्या कवितांतून व्यक्त होणारी ज्येष्ठांच्या अनुकरणाची प्रवृत्ती, शैलीतली सांकेतिकता, शब्दांचा सोस या गोष्टींचा ‘गोंदण’ मधील कवितांत क्वचितच आढळ होतो. इथे कवयित्री आपल्या अनुभवविश्वाचा अधिक खोलवर शोध घेत आहे आणि त्या अनुभवांचे केवळ वर्णन करण्याऐवजी त्यांचा प्रत्यय वाचकांना देण्याची धडपड करत आहे असे जाणवते. त्याबरोबर छंदोबद्ध आणि वृत्तबद्ध कवितांच्या जोडीला अनेक कवितांतून मुक्तछंद िंकवा मुक्त रचना यांचा वापर इथे प्रथमच केलेला दिसतो. उपमा-रूपकांऐवजी प्रतिमांची योजना जाणीवपूर्वक केली जात आहे, असेही प्रत्ययाला येते. तरीही जुन्या कवितेशी असलेले आपले अनुबंध शान्ताबाई अद्याप जपत आहेत. शार्दूलविक्रीडितात लिहिलेली, पण आशयातील नावीन्य प्रकट करणारी अनेक सुनीते ‘गोंदण’ मध्ये आहेत. ही सुनीते ‘गोंदण’चे एक उल्लेखनीय वैशिष्ट्य म्हणावे लागेल
