While this book may contain all of the stories of Father Brown, it is far from complete. The ending of every story is cut. I understand the need to fit all the stories into a single volume required shortening them, but part of enjoying a mystery is "seeing" the criminal receive his or her punishment in the end, or seeing the innocent receive their reward. This book removes that part of each story, leaving a feeling of lack of closure.

Bite sized stories reminiscent of the short stories of Miss Marple, or, if you're less charitable, Encyclopedia Brown. Suffers from some dated language and prejudice, not just racism, that are unpleasant to the modern eye, as well as some outdated social science and psychology.

If you like Agatha Christie & PD James, you'll like Chesterton, too. Very readable & very common sense.
