John Fontana
I'm admittedly still reading this book, but I am taken aback in two ways: The research cannot be denied as incredibly thorough and great work. The bad thing is, it is not laid out in a good way early on; too many names, throw-away names, chronology issues when sharing anecdotes that MIGHT have led to John Henry Holiday moving on. The narration of the story gets wishy-washy and unsure of facts that weren't necessary to begin (method of transit, course of transit, property sales, property leasing after sale, etc.) The biography also requires you to know the key figures in Doc Holiday's life, as introductions are chronologically told, which doesn't truly sell the relevance of certain people in Holiday's life. While I'll continue reading, I would not recommend this book if you are expecting a clear narration by an expert. It's telling the story where this book frustrates and fails (certainly not in getting facts,).
