Lewis, who pointed to MacDonald as an inspirer and guide for their own faith and writings. About the author
George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish minister, theologian, poet and author of multiple bestselling works of both fiction and non-fiction. He is best remembered for his fantasy works – both for children and adults – although his theological writings are of great and lasting significance. He is acknowledged as a profound influence by some of the greatest writers of the twentieth century: C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, J.M. Barrie, J.R.R. Tolkien and Madeleine L'Engle, just to name a few. And while the course of his life meandered between worldwide renown and abject poverty, his was a faith in Jesus Christ that remained steadfast and true. His life was a testament to the veracity of his great writings.
