Delightful adventure from the start. Witty, exciting, romance. For me the tone of the language of the age so beautifully captured by Mrs Heyer renders me agape with admiration. In this respect alone all her imitators pale by comparison.

i first read this book over 50years ago and it is still one of my favourite books. I hunted book shops looking for a copy unsuccessfully and then found it in an e-book along with other Heyer novels. I will enjoy reading many more.
