About this eBook

Maggie Mulgrew runs The Ash Leaf, an antique shop in the quaint village of Holmestead, England ~ which has nothing to do with Sherlock, thank you very much.

She sells her goods to disappointed tourists, and locals who appreciate her eclectic taste.

Professor Pembroke Martin is hunting down an artifact that had been stolen by a former assistant ~ a hand-blown apothecary jar that is the center of an old ghost story. His search leads him to Holmestead, and a stubborn, fascinating American who has acquired the box that once contained the rare jar.

When the missing jar turns up, clutched in the hand of the very dead local historian, Martin becomes the prime suspect. He and that dead historian were bitter rivals.

With his future on the line, Martin turns to Maggie for help, and they join forces to find the real  killer.

I'm only about a quarter way done, but have to say that despite it being a reasonably good read, Maggie's doubt as to whether or not the Prof did it, is annoying. so is the police believing it. the body was still warm when the police arrived on the scene, and minutes before the prof was at her shop. So the author wants us to believe that he committed a murder, then went to Maggie's shop, chatted, to find out where the bottle was (despite the auctioneer only giving him her details), then went back to the mur

A small town and an inheritance allows our Maggie a chance to live a quiet life and sell antiques and other nicknacks in her shop. But she did not count on 2 murders involving those same antiques. Can she learn to accept the ghosts around her?

About the author

Cate Dean has been writing since she could hold a pen in her hand and put more than two words together on paper.

She grew up losing herself in the wilds of fantasy worlds, and has had some of her own adventures while tromping through the UK, and a few other parts of the world.

A lover of all things supernatural, she infuses that love into her stories, giving them a unique edge.

When she's not writing, she loves cooking, scaring herself silly in the local cemeteries, and reading pretty much anything she can get her hands on.

There - I got the official biography out of the way. I love to write, and yes, I have been doing it most of my life. I've made up stories in my head for as long as I can remember, and I am thrilled to be able to write them down and share them with you.
