This is a helpful book in that it summarises all the standard Ethernet varieties and explains them in overview. The first half of the book skirts quickly over CE and other technologies used in first mile, metro and core and revises Ethernet LANs for the uninitiated - it doesn't really get to address the topic properly until the last third of the book, so in my view the title is slightly misleading. I regret to say there are an unacceptable number of diagrammatic and textual errors in the first half of the book, particularly typos, which impaired my confidence in the useful information it contains. I would have expected more care from the author, proof readers and publisher at this price. Useful as a superficial guide and introduction to the topic but I wouldn't use it for writing a dissertation or revising for a professional exam.
