Govert Suurbier is een man met naam. Deze goede missionaris worstelt om door het bos de bomen te blijven zien. Het Vaticaan vertrouwt de delicaatste en ondankbaarste taken aan hem toe. De jonge pater Reinier Kneppelhout staat hem bij in zijn beproevingen. Toegegeven, de onstuimige novice heeft het niet makkelijk zich aan te passen aan de wereld rondom hem en onderneemt goedbedoelde pogingen om al wat beweegt te bekeren. Voor hij Bollie & Billie overnam, maakte Laurent Verron met verve de tekeningen voor de getalenteerde Yann. Het resultaat is ongemeen erudiet en iconoclastisch.

About the author

Yann est né en 1954 à Marseille. Après avoir abordé la publicité et l'architecture, Yann décide de s'installer en Belgique pour devenir auteur de bandes dessinées. D'abord comme illustrateur et ensuite comme scénariste, il multiplie les collaborations, notamment avec : Didier Conrad ("les Innommables"), Chaland ("Freddy Lombard"), Batem ("Marsupilami"), Le Gall ("Yoyo", "Théodore Poussin"), Bodart ("Célestin Speculoos", "Nicotine Goudron"), Hislaire ("Sambre"), Berthet ("Pin up"), Hardy («Lolo et Sucette») et bien d'autres... En 1994, il propose à Laurent Verron le projet d'une série originale : les aventures humoristiques du père "Odilon Verjus", missionnaire en Nouvelle-Guinée dans les années '30.
