About this ebook

Wrongly imprisoned whistle-blower Rachel Pierce would rather take her chances with her court appeal than accept her place as the first Interstellar Bride destined for the Colony. She's stubborn and determined to seek justice—and her freedom—on Earth...but her mates are not willing to risk her life or her future on a system they believe to be both primitive and corrupt.

Maxim of Prillon Prime fought ten long years in the Hive wars. Captured and tortured with his second, Ryston, they escaped only to be rejected by their own people and condemned to life on the Colony with the other "contaminated" cyborg warriors. As leader of Sector 3, it's Maxim's duty to set an example for his warriors and summon a bride. When she refuses transport, he can't allow her rejection to demoralize an entire planet of battle hardened but jaded warriors. Maxim and Ryston transport to Earth where they decide she's theirs and a maximum security human prison will not keep them apart.

Getting Rachel to the Colony is only the first challenge they will face. Convincing their beautiful mate to surrender to not one, but two dominant warriors is another. Even if they can win her love, a new evil is rising on the Colony and someone close to Maxim will be its first victim. Maxim will be its second, unless Rachel's love and relentless pursuit of the truth proves strong enough to save him.

This isn't a 'bad' book, but I can't really say that it's 'good' either. There's too many moments of things being forced onto the main female character that made me highly uncomfortable. If those were removed and the store rewritten a little, I'd probably give it a four. The story was only 161 pages on my PC. I'd loved to learn how these false page counts are produced. (I've yet to read any digital book that actually had the page count accurate.)

Rachel was an Earth scientist that is fighting for her reputation and her life. She agrees to the bride match program for Prillion soldiers who currently live on the planet called the Colony. The Colony consists of alien and human soldiers that were genetically re-engineered by The Hive during the war. Rachel is matched with Maxim and his second Royston. Maxim is currently the governor of Base 3 on the Colony and Royston is his right hand and best friend. Together they find love and more as they battle old demons and new resistance. I had read Grace Goodwin novels about cyborgs before. This novel is part of the Colony collection. You do not need to read the others in the series to understand what is going on in this novel. The story of Rachel, Maxim, and Royston is endearing and sweet. The attraction between the three is instant. Rachel must prove herself to the other soldiers on the Colony as her mates prove themselves to her. The trials and tribulations, emotional and physical, they face as a throuple bring them closer together. This was a good story to read as the three of them instantly start working together and Rachel is not constantly comparing their relationship to Earth’s standards. Although I knew this story was going to end on a HEA, I enjoyed the journey to get there.

This book is not 212 pages. it is less than 130 pages. But wow. I enjoyed the story telling. A must reread. The story is not that short when you immerse yourself into the book. Once in a while books under 200 pages can be good reads.

All of Grace's books can be read as sexy, “stand-alone” adventures. Her Happily-Ever-Afters are always free from cheating because she writes Alpha males, NOT Alphaholes. (You can figure that one out.) But be careful...she likes her heroes hot and her love scenes hotter. You have been warned...

About Grace:
Grace Goodwin is a USA Today and international bestselling author of Sci-Fi & Paranormal romance. Grace believes all women should be treated like princesses, in the bedroom and out of it, and writes love stories where men know how to make their women feel pampered, protected and very well taken care of. Grace hates the snow, loves the mountains (yes, that's a problem) and wishes she could simply download the stories out of her head instead of being forced to type them out. Grace lives in the western US and is a full-time writer, an avid romance reader and an admitted caffeine addict.
