Quello raccontato dalla Deledda è un mondo arcaico e primitivo dove emergono bisogni primari (e non) da soddisfare: fame, sesso, desiderio e possesso. Grazia Deledda (1871-1936) è stata una scrittrice italiana. Considerata una delle figure più importanti della letteratura italiana, vinse il Nobel per la letteratura nel 1926, seconda donna e prima italiana a vincere il prestigioso premio. Tra le sue opere più importanti, spesso ambientate in Sardegna, ricordiamo 'Canne al vento', 'La madre', 'La via del male', 'Cenere' e 'Elias Portolu'.
