La guerra del Peloponneso era diversa.
Fu per lo più combattuto sull'acqua, dove l'impero navale più esperto di Atene aveva il sopravvento.
Ma fu anche una guerra di insurrezione, in cui gli alleati di entrambe le parti rimasero vulnerabili alle ribellioni che sfociarono in violente rivolte e prolungati assedi.
In breve, ha cambiato le regole della guerra in modi che sono ancora attuali oggi.
