Complicating factors include the relationship between geography and human geography (the latter being seen by many as merely a subfield of the former); the discipline's relatively recent professionalisation; variations in human geography written in different languages; and the challenge—no, the sheer improbability—of being able to pinpoint clear research questions, sequential paradigms, or key thinkers.
