This book helped explained alot about the ark and the human prescence on it before halo wars 2. It also gives insights into olympia vale's life before turning into a spartan. I love the sangheili warriors featured in the book but sad to see that not much of urze and the other named characters be given more story and character development. Overall, a solid 5 stars nonetheless and i would recommend this to any long time halo fans out there.

The book forgets some of the characters, forgets to give an epilogue to the covie cast, has repetitive phrases like calling all characters in their full names and surnames, constantly reminding us how perfect Vale's Sangheili language skills are, forgets to develop most of the Sangheili stuff, pulls Huragok Deus ex Machina and has some really weird and unnecessary moments that feel forced and out of place.

Book holds up on its own, and plenty of action. Lots of references to the lore in general, but I know it would excite any Halo 3 players! Some parts are cheesy though, and the scientists are used as some kind of magical narrative storytellers (predicting basically everything in this novel). Still a great read though!
