About this eBook

It was October 16th, 1780.

Hannah Handy was in the field when they came. She didn't see them at first. She had her head down, hoeing the crops. Soon they would be ready to harvest.

Suddenly she heard her son scream. He was seven years old. He was supposed to be taking care of her infant daughter. Why was he screaming?

Hannah looked up. What she saw made her blood run cold. Indians were coming out of her cabin! They were carrying her son and her daughter with them!

She saw smoke starting to come from her house. It had been set on fire!

She threw down her tools and ran toward the cabin, but the Indians were not waiting. They ran up the street and headed toward the river.

The braves carrying her children ran fast. She knew she could never catch up. It was too hard to run in her long skirts. But maybe she could keep them in sight!

Find out how Hannah saves not only her own children, but many others in this exciting 15-minute book.

Ages 7 and up.
