About the author
Hans-Joachim Gehrke lehrte an den Universitäten Göttingen, Würzburg, Berlin und Freiburg im Breisgau und war von 2007 bis 2011 Präsident des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts. Er gilt als international anerkannter Spezialist in der Erforschung der griechischen Antike. In der Reihe "Geschichte der Welt" – im Verlag C.H.Beck herausgegeben von Akira Iriye und Jürgen Osterhammel – hat Hans-Joachim Gehrke den Band "Die Welt vor 600. Frühe Zivilisationen" (2017) herausgegeben.
