Harry Carmichael, eigtl. Hartley Howard resp. Leopold Horace Ognall (* 20. Juni 1908 in Montreal, Québec; † Großbritannien), war ein englischer Journalist und Schriftsteller. Neben Hartley Howard benutzte Ognall auch das Pseudonym Harry Carmichael, das sich aus dem Vornamen seiner Ehefrau und denen seiner Kinder zusammensetzte.

Der Roman Mehr Schatten als Licht erschien erstmals im Jahr 1960; eine deutsche Erstveröffentlichung erfolgte 1963.

Der Apex-Verlag veröffentlicht eine durchgesehene Neuausgabe dieses Klassikers der Kriminal-Literatur in seiner Reihe APEX CRIME.
