I was shocked at what transpired at the beginning, and that continued. The revelations kept me reading. The author honed in on the hate between Sabella and Angelo. From Angelo, “I desire and despise her in equal measures, a situation of my own making.” From Sabella, “He’s darkness and danger personified, both beautiful and cruel.” Angelo was cruel to Sabella at the end, and I didn’t like him by that point. I don’t know if/how this author will redeem him, but that’s why I will keep reading!

Oh my gawd! This was crazy intense!!! This is layered with so many wicked twists due to both Sabella’s and Angelo’s decisions. I somewhat suspected a few of them, but there were many that took me by surprise. And then there was the final action that left me gasping in shock. Ms. Pauls has totally taken this story and her readers for a wild ride that, so far, has left me feeling wrecked but wanting more.
