But Dr. Stine couldn't let it go. The whispers of Almaz had haunted him since childhood when his grandfather, a world-renowned explorer himself, had told him stories of a place where gold flowed like water and ancient gods slumbered in hidden tombs. On his deathbed, his grandfather had pressed the tattered map into Harry's hands, his eyes gleaming with a feverish light.

"Find it, Harry," he had whispered. "Prove them all wrong. The treasure of Almaz will make our family name immortal."
