ONE ABSOLUTE DELIGHT!!! Wow! Dawn brings it when she comes, and she comes out swinging. There is nothing held back or cut short that feels it was in anyway rushed. She packs a punch and leaves you wanting more. She brings every emotion you have front and center in a whirlwind that draws you in so deeply, your only focus is on the tale playing out before you. You're kept on a razors edge, barely breathing hanging on tightly throughout. She lays out one amazing storyline and smoking plot that brings this bad boy roaring to life flawlessly. The chemistry between the two main characters is intense, palpable and sizzling. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and individuality it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are so graphically descriptive and detailed you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Dawn totally rocked this little gem with such on point realism you can't help but fall in love with the

Dane Hunter saved enough money to buy an old suit so he could attend his prom. Everyone else was in a tuxedo, but he had little money to even rent one. The girl he loved had come into the diner where he worked and told him she would dance with him if he came to the prom. Just one dance, but it mattered to him enough to tolerate the mean comments from those around him. He knew she offered out of pity, but he would take even that. Then his cruel half-brother shoved him and told him to leave. Reese walked over and Nolan let Dane go as Reese ignored Nolan’s flirting, said she had promised this dance, and held out her hand to Dane! Now Dane Hunter is a detective who survived a horrible childhood of having nothing, constantly bullied by his cruel half-brother, Nolan, who was on his way to prison for murder and escaped custody when the bus transporting him to prison overturned. Dane’s partner, Carter, went to protect Claire who had testified against Nolan in court; Dane would be protecting Dr. Reese Jackson until the serial-killer Nolan could be apprehended. With Dane protecting Reese from Nolan, all of those old feelings he had for her came back even stronger. Would anything come of their being in close quarters now? Would Reese see the real man who loves her? Would she survive Nolan’s vengeful plans for her? This was a powerful story emotionally. The reader could not help but like Dane who suffered greatly but held on to his honor, integrity, and dignity. Reese had some nice qualities, but was caught up in her own dreams and let it blind her to Dane’s feelings. Experiencing the danger with Dane’s defending her made her grow up a bit and become much more likable. I think the focus of the story line was on appearances being misleading and not showing the true depth of a person. Nolan was handsome and wealthy, so his vicious cruelty wasn’t obvious to many. Dane had a heart of gold and loyalty that went bone-deep. He didn’t let his misfortune stop him from being the good person he always was. Will Reese finally see that good person and open her heart to give love a chance?

What a phenomenally emotional and thrilling new story from Dawn Brower about overcoming a painful childhood and second chances. Nate is a police detective who was always bullied and picked on at home and at school. Reese is a doctor who befriended Nate when they were young. Now Nate is chosen to protect is former crush from danger. Heart in Waiting is a captivating must read that readers won’t want to put down. I loved the story plot and the characters of this book.
