Mysterious. Sexy. Powerful. Emotional. So many words describe The Fixer by HelenKay Dimon. This contemporary romance with suspense elements focuses mainly on the characters with little procedural details of the cold case investigation. The book has a more serious tone to it with intense plot lines. Get ready for your heart to be tied up in knots but also filled with hope at the end. The first meeting between the mysterious Wren and persistent Emery was a treat. Not one that I thought would turn out well, but one that captures our attention. Dimon does an outstanding job writing these characters that are so complicated. As the story moves along, more layers of both Wren and Emery are exposed and keeps the reader turning pages. The dialogue between Wren and Emery is absolutely fantastic. Wren is a man of few words expecting others to take what he says without challenge, whereas Emery challenges him every step of the way. She is able to break down those walls to his heart and make him a bit more human. Supporting characters area always great in books and I think Garrett (Wren's second in command) stole the scenes he was in. He handles Wren so well and his sarcastic humor lightens the mood and balances Wren out. I would have loved to see more of him. The Fixer is a book that will cause your heart to ache for Wren and Emery when you learn their stories, but will also have your heart racing with excitement when they get to know each other passionately. This book has it all. If you are looking for a contemporary romance with suspense and mystery elements, give The Fixer a read. It is one that will stay with you long after you finish it.
