About this ebook

Meet the White family...

Benedict White is the new Duke of Whitehaven but he's inherited a whole set of old problems right along with his dukedom.

Warring siblings.

A mysterious clause within his father’s will.

And swirling questions about his father’s death.

He’s a man who lives his life alone. How can he untangle himself from this mess? Still, he’ll do what’s best for the dukedom no matter how much he hates the task. And when he meets his sister’s companion, Miss Chloe Fairly, he can’t deny that he’s tempted. As lovely as she is sweet, he’d keep her for himself if he were a different sort or if there were a heart still in his chest. But he’s pretty sure he lost his years ago. And he’s got enough problems without adding a temptress to the list.

She’s a lady in want of a hero…

The Honourable Chloe Fairly, a baron’s daughter, has taken one of the few options open to a woman in genteel poverty. She’s become a companion to one Lady Millicent White. And while the two women have become dear friends, Chloe knows that she’ll likely have to find a new position once Millie marries. Which will be very soon, thanks to her hardheaded brother, the new duke of Whitehaven. Unless Chloe can convince Ben to give Millie and herself more time. Which isn’t easy. He’s stubborn and growly and so handsome, every thought leaves her head whenever he speaks…

But Chloe can’t afford to lose herself in a dream of a handsome and dashing duke who sweeps her up in an epic sort of love. She’s got reality to face and being a duchess is not within her grasp. Is it?

A complex undesired family reunion with a side of romance. I enjoyed reading the slow transformation of the White brothers coming together. Their father was a mean son of a gun and so strict he drove them all away. A very good read and look anxiously to the next book. I do recommend it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Reasons I enjoyed this book: Inspirational Original Page-turner Realistic Steamy Unpredictable

An imaginative start to a new series and with this author's imagination, I know it will be fantastic! The White family is, well broken apart. Growing up with a tyrant father, they had all scattered as soon as they could to get away from him. Now upon his death, Benedict the oldest, has the dukedom fall to him and his first job is to round up all the siblings for the reading of the will. His first encounter is with his sister Millie, who has a beautiful companion, Chloe, as her best friend who has been with her ever since his father hired her. Oh yes, there is an attraction. But Ben feels he no longer has a heart since his father destroyed it years ago. A mystery with the reading of the will and a wonderful cast of characters bring this journey to love an awesome story to a sigh worthy ending!

In the first book of a new series, we are introduced to the White family. Their father did everything he could to poison their relationship to each other. In doing so, he lost what regard they might have had for him. The old duke is dead and Benedict is the new Duke of Whitehaven, but his father is still manipulating the lives of his family from the grave. Ben must bring all seven members of the family together for the reading of the old duke’s will. That will not be easy. Benedict, Destrian, Sayden, Justice, Millicent, Esme and Caleb; each has a story. The first one is Benendict’s. He has kept to himself since he left home. He doesn’t have a heart, or so he believes. When he goes to get Millie from school, he meets her companion, the Honorable Chloe Fairly. She is conscientious, kind, and intelligent. Once she is in his home, Ben discovers that she has a calming effect on him. With her touch, a word, and her music, she eases his mind and lessens the tension around him. There is a wonderful chemistry between these two. Having Chloe near is a making Ben believe he might have a heart after all. The family is finally all together, each of member of the family is receives a letter from the old duke disclosing the inheritance for each of them. A clause in each of the letters, not revealed to the reader or the other members of the family, is meant to bring them all back together again. There is also one extra letter label only R. A mystery for a little later. Ben and Chloe are ready to begin their happily ever after. With the family watching, they do just that. Wonderful story, interesting characters, a little mystery along the way. I love the note from Benedict at the beginning of the book. A great start to what promises to be an interesting and entertaining series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
